5th Round
4-3 WIN!! 10/08/02
So Solid Warriors 4-3 Rage
After four weeks of So Solid Warriors demolisihng the oppisition, they
finally found a team worthy of being on the same pitch as them. The game was
played at a high tempo from start to finish, but the result was never in
doubt with So Solid outplaying there oppenents in every department apart
from cheating & fouling.
The game started well for So Solid and german schemer Thorsten should have
perhaps done better when firing straight against the keepers legs when clean
through with less than a minute gone. Almost immediately Thorsten found
himself with another oppitunity to score but this time the keeper pulled off
a good save and Take could only chip the rebound against the bar with the
keeper lying on the ground.
However disaster was about to strike the So Solid's midfield was anything
but that and allowed Rage to score on a counter attack and in the process
inflict the first goal on Ed who had previously kept four clean sheets.
The Warriors made a couple of substitutions & got on with getting back on
level terms but...
they didn't count on Rage scoring a fluke second goal some five minutes
late. A harmless intended cross looped over Ed who wasn't off his line by
much to make the score 2-0 to Rage.
Already a pattern was emerging the Warriors would launch attack after attack
and Rage would counter attack when they could all be it effectively when
they did. There was another pattern emerging too, that of Rage getting away
with some dodgy fouls & also getting any 50-50 decisions going, most of the
treatment was coming Thorsten's way and he was not happy. However he
responded in the best way possible by winning the free kick from which Take
made the scores 2-1 with a bullet of a shot.
Soon it was 2-2 with a sweeping So Solid move being finished by Chris with a
lovely side-footed finish which gave the keeper no chance.
Moments later Take was lucky not to give away a penalty when he made a slide
tackle on an oppisition player, Take also got away without being cautioned
which highlighted the officals lack of knowledge of the rules. This would
later prove more crucial and nearly turn the game.
The game was getting increasingly niggly with each team going tat for tat
with fouls although any that were missed by the ref seemed to cost So
Solid, funny that!
The half ended 2-2 with So Solid in the ascendency and feeling it was only a
matter of time until they took the lead.
The second half entered the way the first had ended with So Solid on top but
being increasingly frustrated by inept referring and the oppisitions ability
to get away with fouling the crap out of them. The most blatant being when
Thorsten was fouled in front of the ref who was busy talking to someone!
Whilst the Warriors still had to be careful at the back they were doing a
good job with Matt,Chris & Jerry (when he awas on the pitch) keeping the
amount of action Ed saw down to a minimum, although Ed had to react quickly
to dive at the oppisitions strikers feet when he was put through & recieved
a bloody lip for his troubles.
Nick should have put the Warriors ahead midway through the first half when
Take found him free ten yards out, however he miscued his shot and it flew a
foot past the far post.
The Warriors would have been ahead when Thorsten & Take found themselves in
a two on one situation only for the ref to call the play back when Klaus
sought retribution for an earlier foul, by atempting to elbow his nemesis.
Not to worry though as Thorsten, the man with a shot harder than Mike
Tyson's bite and probably more accurate too, put the Warriors into the lead
for the first time with 8 minutes to go, with a shot which quite frankly my
Gran could have saved without to much trouble, but it was a goal and the
lead. We were in the lead we could do it only our own mistakes could cost us
the game. Or so we thought....
Enter stage right the Refs...
After yet another foul on Thorsten this time about 15 yards from our goal,
he picked himself up & clipped the ball forward 5 yards to the position
where the foul had occured ready to take the kick. However one of the dirty
cheating bastards on the other team decided the kick had been taken & took
the ball ran past a stunned Chris & a equally bemused Ed & slotted the ball
in the net. What the Fuck!!
The ref gave a goal we argued well, Thorsten mostly backed up by Nick & the
rest of the team, the head of intermural sports was called over & she sided
with the ref & gave the goal. And just to rub salt into the wound cautioned
Thorsten, probably for breathing or something equally as stupid.
Stupid fucking yanks didn't know the rules(sorry Matt, Chris and Tobin i
know you do)
So the Warriors had it all to do again with a little over three minutes
remaining.
But with fire in our belly & the ball at our feet we knew we could score and
claim the win that was rightfully ours.
And within a minute we had Matt put Take through and with a the goalie again
at fault we had the lead 4-3.
However that was not the end of the game far from it.
Klaus decided to try out for the wrestling team as soccer is finishing in a
week & did a good job although his opponent would be advised to sign up too.
Ed also pulled off a magnificant full length save with seconds remaining as
almost in slow motion a long throw evaded the Warriors defence and found its
way to a Rage striker. The Warriors though were not to be denied, the final
whistle blew we were 5-0 for the season and had been given a proper game
before the playoffs, which we were badly in need of.
A scandolous display of refeering was rightly criticised so stay posted for
updates on any action taken, the playoff draw is on Monday, and a confident
So Solid go into them with a renewed vigour for soccer after 4 previous easy
matches.
Well done Warriors the real competition starts here, hope your up for the
fight.

4th Round
12-0 WIN!! 10/08/02
10/08 So Solid Warriors 11-0:
With Eugene injuring his ankle in the warm up The Warriors took to the field
with their only seven present players, hoping for a decent game that they
never got . In the first half the Warriors played the best soccer of the
year so far e with some great link up play from all quarters & some
excpetional passing soccer. They went in 7-0 at half-time, & quite frankly
it should & could have been more.
Take's decision to keep warm by keeping his coat on! was a wise one as he
was 'on fire' in the first half scoring (insert number of goasl) in the half
& laying on a couple for Thorsten just for good measure. His performance
prompted the cry of 'he's got magic in his boots' form one of the
oppisitions players & many a Take San(is that the right spelling?) from the
loyal So Solid Spectators. However goal of the half had to go to Chris who
having carried the ball all the way from his own box, just about had enough
energy to scuff the ball into the net!
In the second half it was the defence and primarily Ed who provided the
entertainment. With the luck of the irish smiling fully on Ed he totally
miskicked the ball only for the oppisition striker to do a Ronnie Rosenthal
and miss the goal completely.
The Warriors took their foot of the gas and added only four more in the
second half, however Thorsten managed to keep up his record of five goals a
game to become the Warriors top scorer.
Ed also came out of goal to score a goal to take his tally to two scored &
none conceeded.

3rd Round
14-0 WIN!! 10/01/02
"So Solid Warrior" was missing its captain Nick, but
clinched a clear sound victory.
The 14-0 score is the evidence that shows
what happened on the field of play.
"SSW" could have scored more goals, especially having
Thorsten rejoining the team. He scored 5 goals!
It was impossible for the opponent to
keep up with "SSW". This victory puts "SSW" a long
way ahead of the rest of the squads in the group making
qualification for the play off a lot easier. (Take)

2nd Round
7-1 WIN!! 09/24/02
"SO Solid Warrior" keep displaying the best football.
Takehiko opened the festival with a beautiful hattrick.
Supported by the airtight fielding of Jerry, Matt, and
Edward, up-front Matt, Nick, Marwan and Klas
secured the win in just one magic minute.
All the conclusions about the game are definitely good.
The show must go on. (Take)
